...ELEVATED FIRE DANGER THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING ...
The combination of low relative humidity and gusty winds will
create an increased risk for fire start and spread this afternoon
and evening.
Many areas have had moderate to poor humidity recovery overnight.
Today, we can expect relative humidity values as low as 25 to 35
percent and southwest to westerly winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts
of 20 to 25 mph tomorrow afternoon. Higher wind gusts are likely
along the ridges.
These conditions could lead to the rapid spread of any fires that
do occur. Consult your local burn permitting authorities on
whether you may burn outdoors today. West Virginia law prohibits
burning in the spring from 7AM to 5PM...March 1st through May
31st.
