The Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of Nicaragua has issued a statement informing about the decision to “discontinue the processes filed before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) related to the grave violations of the Rights of the Palestinian People and State.”
This determination is based on the “high financial cost” that these processes imply for a developing country, which is facing economic restrictions.
Despite this decision, the Nicaraguan government emphasizes that it will continue to “support the Palestinian People and State in all other areas within its reach” and reaffirms its commitment to fulfill “its international obligations in defense of the Brother Palestinian People.”
Additionally, Nicaragua calls on “States with greater resources,” reminding them that international judicial avenues remain available to demand respect for Palestinian rights.
The statement also expresses gratitude to those who have collaborated in these processes before the ICJ and reaffirms the government’s commitment to “the Rule of Law at the International Level” and the “peaceful resolution of disputes between States.”
