Japan’s technological expertise shines once again

The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) announced the winners of the 2018 Innovation Awards at the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto.

The Best Green Innovation was awarded to Toyota for the Gas Injection Heat Pump System Design in the 2017/2018 Prius Prime. The other finalists were Chevrolet with its Regen-on-Demand System (Bolt) and Lexus with its multi-stage hybrid system.

Next, the Lexus+ Safety System earned the Best Safety Innovation award. It beat out FCA’s eFlite transmission (Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid) and Volvo’s Hybrid Combined Powertrain (S90 T8).

Finally, the 2018 Best Technical Innovation award went to Cadillac’s Super Cruise technology enabling hands-free, single-lane driving. Also being considered were GM’s Vehicle to Vehicle Communications System, Honda’s Cabin Talk and Watch systems (Odyssey) and Nissan’s ProPILOT Assist.
